1. What information do we collect and what do we do with it?

When you enrol as a student or subscriber (“learner”) on our site or related courses, as part of the enrolling process, we collect the personal information you give us such as your name and email address.

Email marketing: we may send you emails about our site and related course(s), registration, course content, your course progress or other updates. We may also use your email to inform you about changes to the course, survey you about your usage, or collect your opinions.

2. How do you get my consent?

When you provide us with personal information to become a learner on our site, make a purchase, or participate in the course, you imply that you consent to our collecting it and using it for that specific reason only.

If we ask for your personal information for a secondary reason, like marketing, we will either ask you directly for your expressed consent, or provide you with an opportunity to say no.

3. How do I withdraw my consent?

If after you opt-in, you change your mind, you may withdraw your consent for us to contact you, for the continued collection, use or disclosure of your information, at any time, by contacting us at legal@neo-english.com .

4. Disclosure

We may disclose your personal information if we are required by law to do so or if you violate our Terms and Conditions.

5. Hosts

Our programs, courses and communities are hosted by Thinkific Labs Inc. (“Thinkific”). They provide us with the online course creation platform that allows us to sell our product/services to you.

Your data is stored through Thinkific’s data storage, databases and the general Thinkific application.

Our website, which serves as a portal to access our online learning program hosted on Thinkific, is built using the Wix platform. When you visit our website, certain information may be collected and processed by Wix. This includes technical data such as IP addresses, cookies, and usage statistics. Wix may also collect personal information if you provide it voluntarily through contact forms or other interactive features on our website.

We offer English level tests on our website, which are provided through a third-party platform called Zengengo. When you access and complete these tests, Zengengo may collect your email address for the purpose of storing your test results and providing them to us.

We value the privacy of your data and encourage you to review the privacy policies of Thinkific, Wix, and Zengengo for a comprehensive understanding of how your data is handled by each respective company.

6. Payment

Payments are processed through Thinkific.  Payments are encrypted through the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI-DSS). Your purchase transaction data is stored only as long as is necessary to complete your purchase transaction.

All direct payment gateways adhere to the standards set by PCI-DSS as managed by the PCI Security Standards Council, which is a joint effort of brands like Visa, MasterCard, American Express and Discover.

PCI-DSS requirements help ensure the secure handling of credit card information by our site and related courses and its service providers.

7. Third Party Services

In general, the third-party providers used by us will only collect, use and disclose your information to the extent necessary to allow them to perform the services they provide to us.

Certain providers may be located in or have facilities that are located in a different jurisdiction than either you or us. If you elect to proceed with a transaction that involves the services of a third-party service provider, then your information may become subject to the laws of the jurisdiction(s) in which that service provider or its facilities are located.

As an example, if you are located in Canada and your transaction is processed by a payment gateway located in the United States, then your personal information used in completing that transaction may be subject to disclosure under United States legislation, including the Patriot Act.

Note that we also use many third-party websites and applications to enhance your learning experience.   To understand which lessons redirect you to a third-party website or application, check the Key Points video provided at the beginning of each weekly unit and look for which lessons use an app-based activity.

Once you leave our course website or are redirected to a third-party website or application, you are no longer governed by this Privacy Policy or our website’s Terms of Service.  We are not responsible for the privacy practices of other sites and encourage you to read their privacy statements.

If you provide us with your credit card information, the information is encrypted using secure socket layer technology (SSL) and stored with AES-256 encryption.  Although no method of transmission over the Internet or electronic storage is 100% secure, we follow all PCI-DSS requirements and implement additional generally accepted industry standards.
